Kemenag Faces A Budget Cut Of Rp 12 Trillion

Thursday, 27 Feb 2025

The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) of Indonesia is facing a budget cut of Rp 12 trillion from its total budget of Rp 78 trillion. This reduction was announced by Minister Nasaruddin Umar during a meeting with Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

"Efficiency for the 2025 budget of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, based on the coordination meeting between our ministry and the Ministry of Finance, is allocated at Rp 12,390,596,767,000, which is over Rp 12 trillion," Nasaruddin stated at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta. He noted that Kemenag is one of the ministries most affected by budget cuts in 2025, possibly the one with the largest reductions.

As a result, this budget cut will impact the allocation for Kemenag in 2025, which is divided among several units at the first echelon level. The 2025 state budget for the Ministry of Religious Affairs, according to these units, shows that the pure amount is Rp 8,892,717,992,000, with additional allocations of Rp 866,425,185,000 for PNBB, Rp 1,744,116,244,000 for BLU, and Rp 81,210,346,000 for SPSN. This budget efficiency policy is outlined in Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 and a letter from the Minister dated January 24, 2025, regarding spending efficiency for ministries or agencies.
