AHY Re-elected As The Chairman Of The Democratic Party For The 2025-2030 Term

Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has been re-elected as the chairman of the Democratic Party. He will lead the party for the next five years, from 2025 to 2030. This announcement was made during the VI Congress of the Democratic Party held at the Ritz-Carlton in South Jakarta on Monday, February 24, 2025. The congress was attended by members of the Central Executive Board (DPP) and the party's high council, who all expressed their support for AHY's leadership.

AHY's election as chairman was conducted by acclamation, as he was the only candidate who registered and met the nomination requirements. Herman Khaeron, the head of the Organization, Cadre Development, and Membership Agency (BPOKK) of the DPP, asked, "Do we agree to appoint Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono as the chairman of the Democratic Party for the 2025-2030 term?" The members unanimously responded with agreement.

Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) then read the decision from the VI Congress, stating, "We appoint Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono as the chairman of the DPP of the Democratic Party for the 2025-2030 term. This decision is effective from the date it is established, in Jakarta on February 24, 2025, at 8:20 PM."

Prior to this, 38 chairpersons of the Regional Representative Councils (DPD) of the Democratic Party from across Indonesia met with AHY to express their support for his return as chairman.

AHY mentioned that he was encouraged to run again for the position and accepted the request. "The DPD and DPC chairpersons expressed their hope that I would be willing to run again as chairman for the 2025-2030 term," he told reporters at his residence on Jalan Prapanca Raya, South Jakarta, on Sunday, February 23, after meeting with the 38 DPD chairpersons.

AHY affirmed his readiness to accept the request from the party's supporters in the region and expressed his commitment to fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him by all Democratic Party members.

With a sincere intention and good faith, I accept this responsibility. I hope to fulfill the duties entrusted to me by all members and continue the leadership that has been in place for the past five years, he stated. The son of the sixth President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), expressed that with support, unity, and the fighting spirit of all members, the Democratic Party is optimistic. He wishes for the party to rise and play a more significant role in Indonesia.

"We also reflected on our journey, recalling the ups and downs, challenges, and dynamics of the last five years, starting from the 2020 Congress. That was when the COVID-19 pandemic first led to a lockdown, making things difficult. Our mobility was severely limited, and we had to focus on humanitarian aid for the community," AHY shared.
