Thursday, 20 Feb 2025

President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated 961 regional leaders from across Indonesia in a simultaneous ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, February 20, 2025. In his speech, President Prabowo highlighted that this simultaneous inauguration marks a historic moment for the Indonesian government.

“This is, I believe, a historic moment for our country, as we are swearing in 33 governors, 33 vice governors, 363 regents, 362 vice regents, 85 mayors, and 85 vice mayors, totaling 961 regional leaders from 481 regions, all at once at the Merdeka Palace,” the President stated.

He noted that this simultaneous event demonstrates that Indonesia is a great nation with a continually evolving democracy.

“This also shows us how significant our nation is, being the fourth largest in the world by population, and that we have a vibrant, functioning, and dynamic democracy,” he added.

The President emphasized that the newly appointed regional leaders have a duty to serve the people. He urged them to advocate for the interests of the citizens and work towards improving their lives.

“That is our responsibility. Even though we may come from different parties, religions, and ethnicities, we are all part of the larger family of the archipelago, the great family of the Republic of Indonesia, the family of the Red and White, the family of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. We are diverse, yet united,” the President asserted.

President Prabowo stressed the importance of hard work and the trust that the people have placed in the regional leaders. “You have conducted a challenging campaign, you have engaged with the people, you have sought their trust, and thankfully, you have succeeded in earning their confidence,” he said.

Additionally, President Prabowo stated that all regional leaders will soon gather again for a retreat organized by the Minister of Home Affairs in Magelang, Central Java. He also reminded everyone to be prepared for the challenges ahead.

"I don't think I'll be away for long since we will meet at the retreat organized by the Minister of Home Affairs in Magelang. I look forward to seeing you all there, and I hope you will be strengthened through this experience," said the President.
