The budget for the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has been reduced by Rp 4.49 trillion, which is 58.17% of the total budget cap of Rp 7.72 trillion for the year 2025. As a result, the budget cap for Komdigi after this efficiency measure is now Rp 3.23 trillion. This budget efficiency was discussed in a meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (February 4, 2025). "Commission I has approved the budget efficiency for Komdigi amounting to Rp 4.49 trillion or 58.17% of the 2025 budget allocation of Rp 7.73 trillion. Therefore, the allocation cap after efficiency is now Rp 3.233 trillion," stated Commission I Chairman Utut Adianto on Tuesday.
Utut mentioned that this budget efficiency aligns with Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025, which was followed up by the Minister of Finance's Letter Number S-37/MK.02/2025. On another note, Commission I supports increasing the budget for the ministry if the economic conditions allow. "Commission I will back the budget increase for the Ministry of Communication and Digital as long as the economic situation permits and there are available budget allocations," Utut added.
At the same time, Commission I Vice Chairman Ahmad Heryawan expressed hope that the efficiency would still lead to good performance. He noted that the ministry needs to adapt to President Prabowo's directives, even though Commission I hopes for additional funding for several priority programs. "Hopefully, there are still priorities placed within Komdigi, allowing for the possibility of additional funding from this efficiency. The expectation is that this 58.17% efficiency can still support priority programs and operations," he said. For context, President Prabowo issued Presidential Instruction Number 1 of 2025 regarding budget cuts, which was followed by the Minister of Finance's Letter Number S-37/MK.02/2025, mandating budget savings of Rp 256.10 trillion for ministries and agencies.
