, 02 Feb 2025

The head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, announced that President Prabowo Subianto has approved the design for the legislative building in Nusantara Capital (IKN). This approval was given during a meeting with Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), and the design team at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Monday (February 3, 2025). "The design for the legislative building, especially for the plenary sessions, has been approved by the President," Basuki stated after the meeting. He mentioned that the design will be finalized and then presented again to Prabowo through Minister AHY.

"We are currently finalizing it and will assist him again through Minister AHY," Basuki said. AHY added that the government has allocated a budget of IDR 48.8 trillion for the development of IKN from 2025 to 2029. According to the plan, Prabowo aims for IKN to become the political capital by 2028. Therefore, OIKN has been tasked with completing the judicial and legislative ecosystems in the next phase of development.

"Regarding IKN, it has been confirmed that the project will continue, and he has also assured that a significant budget of around IDR 48.8 trillion will be allocated," AHY stated. He acknowledged that the legislative and judicial areas need improvement and adjustments. Consequently, this meeting included the design team to strengthen the foundational design.

This team has been collaborating with the Ministry of Public Works to plan the location and development of the Core Government Area (KIPP). "As we know, the State Palace and Garuda Palace have been completed. Now, the focus is on developing the legislative and judicial areas and facilities. Some adjustments will take time," AHY explained.
