The Government Has Postponed The Transfer Of Civil Servants To The New Capital

Saturday, 01 Feb 2025

The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan-RB) has issued a circular announcing the delay of the planned relocation of Civil Servants (ASN) to the new capital, Nusantara (IKN). This delay follows a circular from the Minister of PAN-RB dated October 18, 2024, which stated that the relocation of ASN to IKN was scheduled for January 2025.

The circular, numbered B/5172/M.SM.01.00/2024, was previously communicated to the leaders of various Ministries and Agencies (KL). The circular notes, "The plan to relocate ASN to IKN, as mentioned in the Minister of PAN-RB's letter, cannot be carried out at this time," as quoted on Saturday (February 1, 2025). Signed by Minister Rini Widyantini, the letter explains that the delay is due to the government's ongoing reorganization and restructuring of ministries and agencies within the Red and White Cabinet.

This reorganization is still in the internal consolidation phase within each Ministry and Agency. Additionally, the office buildings and housing units for ASN in IKN are still being adjusted due to changes in the number of Ministries and Agencies. "The final timeline for the relocation of ASN to IKN will be announced later," the circular states.
