The Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, Rini Widyantini, appointed Mego Pinandito as the Head of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) at the ANRI office in Jakarta on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Mego previously served as the Deputy for Development Policy at the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). Rini stated that this appointment not only signifies a leadership change but also reaffirms the importance of the national archives in preserving the nation's memory and acting as a catalyst for the future.

"Congratulations to the newly appointed Head of ANRI. This role is an invitation to create a stronger legacy for our archives," she said during her speech after the ceremony. Rini emphasized that ANRI, as the guardian of the nation's collective memory, plays a crucial role in preserving historical documents and ensuring that the information stored can be effectively used to support future planning and policies.

She highlighted three key steps expected from ANRI's leadership amid rapid digital transformation: digital transformation through the SRIKANDI application, archivists as innovators, and raising awareness of archives as strategic assets. Rini expressed hope that ANRI would advance modernization and digital transformation in national archival management.

"Archives are a long-term investment for the nation. It is essential for ANRI to enhance public awareness of the strategic value of archives, as they strengthen identity, serve as historical evidence, facilitate communication between ministries through archiving, and provide references for policy-making," she explained. The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform is committed to supporting ANRI through strategic policies and program implementation. "We will continue to back various policies to strengthen national archives in the future."

We also believe that well-managed archives will be a key pillar in creating a transparent, accountable, and competitive government," he explained. Meanwhile, ANRI Head Mego Pinandito stated that he is ready to implement the directives from the Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform, especially regarding the digital transformation of archive management. "Certainly, we hope to accelerate the management of existing archives, many of which are still in non-digital formats. This needs to be expedited to transform them into a digital format that can be easily utilized," he said. He emphasized that the acceleration of digital transformation in archiving must be supported by strengthening human resources, particularly in digitalization skills and mastering various technologies that can be used. "This way, we can speed up the entire archiving process and ensure that we can access archives quickly, providing detailed information for future planning," he added.
