Launch The Employment Desk, The Chief Of Police Hopes To Solve Worker Issues

Tuesday, 21 Jan 2025

Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has launched a Labor Desk to address various issues faced by workers in Indonesia. This desk will operate under the Directorate of Certain Criminal Acts (Dirtipidter). "We hope that the Labor Desk can serve as a platform to resolve industrial disputes and conflicts between companies and workers," said Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo during a press conference at the Bareskrim Polri Main Lobby on Monday (January 20, 2025).

Listyo explained that the Labor Desk is set up to handle complaints through several stages, starting with reporting, followed by problem assessment, and then mediation between workers and companies. If no agreement is reached or if there are indications of violations, the police will take legal action as a last resort.

He added that the Labor Desk was created after extensive discussions with workers. He hopes it will provide a good resolution platform for those in conflict. By minimizing labor issues, it is expected that workers in Indonesia will become more competitive. With improved competitiveness, the industry in Indonesia is anticipated to grow, positively impacting the country's economic growth.

"We hope this can also drive economic growth, aiming for the 8 percent target set by the President. We expect the Labor Desk to benefit everyone," the Police Chief reiterated. The conference was also attended by Minister of Manpower Yassierli and his deputies, as well as the Chair of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Felly Estelita Runtuwene, and the Police Chief's Special Advisor on Labor Affairs, Andi Gani Nena Wea.
