A survey by Litbang Kompas shows that the performance of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration in the area of Politics and Security is rated the highest compared to other sectors. Ignatius Kristanto, the Research Manager at Litbang Kompas, stated that the survey conducted from January 4 to 10, 2025, revealed a public satisfaction level of 85.8 percent in this area. "When we look at the sectors, politics and security have the highest rating at 85.8 percent," Kris said during a virtual presentation of the "Evaluation of 100 Days of the Prabowo-Gibran Administration" on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Kris noted that this satisfaction level is higher than in social welfare at 83.7 percent, the economy at 74.5 percent, and law enforcement at 72.1 percent. Although it ranks the highest, the increase in satisfaction in politics and security is not very significant. Compared to the satisfaction level in June 2024 under President Joko Widodo, the satisfaction in politics and security only rose by 0.3 percent. The most notable increase was in law enforcement, which jumped from 57.4 percent in June 2024 to 72.1 percent in January 2025, an increase of 14.7 percent. "The significant rise is in law enforcement, from the last Jokowi administration at 57.4 to 72.1 due to the strong anti-corruption efforts," Kris explained. Meanwhile, satisfaction in the economy stands at 74.5 percent, up 9.4 percent from last June, and social welfare at 83.7 percent, up 1.7 percent.
Kris mentioned that the high public satisfaction is partly due to the ongoing excitement from the presidential election. After the 2024 election, society remains less polarized. "Looking at the election results, Mr. Jokowi won with only 54 percent, while Mr. Prabowo won with 58 percent. That alone shows a lead," he said. Additionally, Prabowo has implemented populist policies in these three months.
The programs include free nutritious meals, free health tests, and partial VAT cancellations. "Even though some programs are still promises, this raises public hopes significantly," he said. The stability of the political situation is also seen as a reason for the high public satisfaction with the Prabowo-Gibran administration. "Almost all parties support it, except for PDIP. However, PDIP has not attacked Mr. Prabowo," he noted. The Kompas Research and Development survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews from January 4 to 10, 2025. A total of 1,000 respondents were randomly selected using a systematic sampling method across 38 provinces in Indonesia. The confidence level is 95 percent with a margin of error of +/- 3.10 percent under simple random sampling conditions. However, errors outside of sample selection may occur. The survey was fully funded by Harian Kompas (PT. Kompas Media Nusantara).
