The Ministry Of Agriculture Promotes Nutritious Food By Distributing Free Seeds To Farmers And Livestock Breeders

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Sudaryono, announced that the Ministry of Agriculture is launching a nutritious food program by providing seed assistance to farmers and livestock breeders. He mentioned that the ministry will collaborate with the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions to supply seeds in various areas. "We are designing a nutritious food program that includes not just seeds, but also livestock," Sudaryono said during a meeting at the Ministry of Social Affairs in Central Jakarta on Monday (January 20, 2025). He noted that the seeds for livestock could include chickens.

However, this plan is still under review, especially regarding the budget that will be allocated. "We have a program for chicken seeds, but we are assessing the fiscal side and how much we can prepare," he explained. With the nutritious food program, it is hoped that rural residents can meet their nutritional needs with good quality food. "So, the poor can not only be empowered but also meet their needs, at least by producing items that provide high nutritional value for their families," Sudaryono added. He assured that this program will target poor communities in villages, who will receive free seeds from the government. In addition to meeting nutritional needs, this program is expected to reduce food shopping costs and help control inflation. "This aims to curb inflation and address the prices of certain commodities, especially chili, vegetables, fruits, and so on," Sudaryono stated.
