The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, witnessed the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected leaders and Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the 2024-2029 term. The official inauguration took place at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday, December 16.
Setyo Budiyanto was officially appointed as the Chairman of KPK after receiving the most votes in the KPK chairman election by the Indonesian House of Representatives in November 2024. Additionally, the vice chairpersons of KPK were also sworn in: Fitroh Rohcahyanto, Ibnu Basuki Widodo, Johanis Tanak, and Agus Joko Pramono.
During the same event, Prabowo appointed Gusrizal as the chairman of the KPK Supervisory Board for the 2024-2029 term. Benny Jozua Mamoto, Chisca Mirawati, Sumpeno, and Wisnu Baroto were appointed as vice chairpersons of the board.
The appointments of the KPK leaders and Supervisory Board were based on the Presidential Decree (Keppres) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 161/P Year 2024 regarding the Respectful Dismissal and Appointment of KPK Leaders and Membership of the KPK Supervisory Board for the 2024-2029 term.
In their oath, the KPK leaders and board members committed to performing their duties and responsibilities sincerely, objectively, honestly, fairly, and with accountability to God, the public, the nation, and the state.
Chairman Setyo Budiyanto emphasized that KPK will adhere to its duties and functions while supporting government programs, especially in reducing waste and minimizing corruption within the government.
"We will focus on how we can support the President's programs to maintain this government, one of which is to avoid excessive waste, ensuring the state budget is well managed, and that procurement of goods and services strictly follows regulations," he stated.
Attending the oath-taking ceremony were Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, leaders of high state institutions, Deputy Chairpersons of the MPR RI, Deputy Chairperson of the DPR Sufmi Dasco, ministers from the Merah Putih cabinet, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
