The Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, stated that the government requires a budget of Rp 25 trillion per month to provide free nutritious meals (MBG) to 82.9 million recipients. "If the number of recipients increases to 82.9 million, the budget needed will reach Rp 25 trillion per month," Dadan said in Jakarta on Monday (March 3, 2025). "However, this will only start in September, October, November, and December 2025," he added. Dadan noted that currently, the government has allocated a budget of around Rp 1 trillion per month for 3 million beneficiaries. With the acceleration plan, this budget will significantly increase from September to December 2025.
He also confirmed that a total of Rp 71 trillion has been allocated for this program in 2025, and an additional Rp 25 trillion per month will be proposed to meet the program's needs. Currently, there are 726 Nutrition Management Units (SPPG) serving over 2 million beneficiaries. In the next two weeks, after verifying an additional 300 new SPPGs, the number of beneficiaries is expected to rise to over 3 million across Indonesia. "In two weeks, we may be serving more than 3 million beneficiaries nationwide," Dadan said. He added that evaluations from the past two months indicate that the MBG program is running smoothly. "Overall, the program is progressing well. Partners who have been operating for over four weeks are accustomed to their tasks, and there have been almost no significant issues," Dadan remarked.
As part of the monitoring system, the National Nutrition Agency is now instructing all SPPGs to create social media accounts on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. They are required to post photos of the meals prepared daily so that the public can monitor the quality and sustainability of the program. "We ask all SPPGs to share their cooking results on social media every day. This is part of our commitment to transparency and joint oversight," Dadan stated.
