Indonesia has once again achieved global recognition by sweeping the top prize at the 4th International Quran Recitation Competition (MTQ) held in Jakarta from January 29 to February 1, 2025. A total of 60 male and female reciters, as well as hafiz and hafizah from 38 countries, participated, and the Indonesian team excelled, winning major awards in various categories. Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Romo Ahmad Syafi'i, expressed pride in the accomplishments of the Indonesian delegation. He hopes that the Quran will become more accessible and serve as a guiding principle for humanity.
"Indonesia has proven itself as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, and it boasts some of the best Quran reciters internationally. May Allah SWT bless this gathering and make the Quran a guide for every person," Romo Syafi'i stated in a written statement on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He also noted that Indonesia secured first place at the International MTQ in Qatar during the same period.
However, he emphasized that true victory belongs not only to the champions but to everyone who practices the values of the Quran in their daily lives.
