The head of the Housing Task Force, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, announced that Qatar plans to invest in an additional 3 to 5 million housing units to support the 3 Million Houses Program. This new investment will come from the government, unlike previous investments from private sources. Hashim made this statement after the inauguration of senior officials at the Ministry of Housing and Settlements in Jakarta on Monday, January 20, 2025. He mentioned that Qatar has already signed for 1 million housing units in the form of apartments, and the Qatari government has officially committed to 3 to 5 million houses and apartments.
When combined with the previous 1 million housing units, Qatar's total investment will reach between 4 million and 6 million housing units. Earlier, on January 8, 2025, Qatar officially expressed its commitment to build 1 million houses in Indonesia. This commitment was formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Minister of Housing and Settlements, Maruarar Sirait, and Qatari Housing Investor Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Thani at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. Hashim noted that Qatar is investing approximately 16 to 20 billion US dollars, equivalent to around 261.9 trillion to 327.45 trillion rupiah, to construct 1 million vertical housing units in urban areas.
