PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) is expected to serve 155.9 million airline passengers across 37 airports in 2024, marking an increase of about 4 percent from 2023. Arie Ahsanurrohim, the Corporate Secretary Group Head of InJourney Airports, stated that this rise in passenger movement reflects strong collaboration within the aviation ecosystem to enhance air connectivity in Indonesia. "We aim to improve the contributions of all airports to support the national economy and tourism. This aligns with InJourney Airports' role as a development agent," Arie mentioned in a press release on Monday (January 20, 2025). Amid the growing number of airline passengers, InJourney Airports reports an average of 426,000 passengers daily, with 3,175 flights each day. Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang is the busiest, handling 149,000 passengers and 991 flights daily. Following it is I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali with 65,000 passengers and 390 flights, and Juanda Airport in Surabaya with 38,340 passengers and 260 flights per day. July is the peak month with 14.5 million passengers, while December follows closely with 14.1 million. "July is the busiest month due to the school holiday period in Indonesia and summer vacations in various countries, leading to increased domestic and international travel," Arie explained. December also sees high traffic due to the holiday season for Christmas and New Year, supported by government initiatives to lower domestic flight ticket prices. In 2024, there will be over 200 flight routes across 37 InJourney Airports, with 60 percent being domestic routes and 40 percent international.

The favorite destinations at the two busiest airports are as follows: At I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, the top five domestic routes to and from Jakarta, Surabaya, Makassar, Labuan Bajo, and Yogyakarta are popular. For international destinations, travelers often go to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Perth, Melbourne, and Sydney.

At Soekarno-Hatta Airport, the most favored domestic routes to and from Denpasar, Medan, Surabaya, Makassar, and Balikpapan are noted. The international routes include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jeddah, Doha, and Hong Kong.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport made history by being the first airport in Indonesia to operate two Airbus A380 wide-body aircraft daily for regular flights, operated by Emirates from September 1 to October 26, 2024. This service on the Dubai-Bali-Dubai route reflects the high interest of international tourists in visiting Bali and aligns with the airport's readiness in terms of infrastructure, facilities, and personnel to support the operation of these two aircraft.
