The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) is reaffirming its commitment to promoting Indonesian tourism on the international stage. At the Travel Exchange (Travex) 2025 event in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, from January 15 to 17, 2025, Kemenpar is collaborating with 18 tourism industry players from various regions in Indonesia. Ni Made Ayu Marthini, the Deputy for Marketing at Kemenpar, stated that Travex serves as a strategic business forum for tourism operators from ASEAN countries.
This forum offers a significant opportunity for Indonesia to enhance its tourism promotion and strengthen its position in the international market, especially within ASEAN. Made mentioned in a Kemenpar press release, “We hope this tourism fair will facilitate knowledge transfer and provide updated tourism information to support industry progress while attracting international interest, particularly from ASEAN countries.”
The ASEAN market remains a strategic focus for Indonesia due to the high potential of tourists from this region. From January to November 2024, there were 4,303,773 ASEAN tourists visiting Indonesia. With a target of 14.6 million to 16 million international visitors in 2025, Indonesia's participation in Travex ATF is a crucial step toward achieving this goal.
At Travex 2025, the Wonderful Indonesia pavilion will feature a Rumah Joglo theme, representing a unique cultural symbol of the archipelago. This pavilion will showcase 18 industry participants, including Destination Management Organizations (DMO), Destination Management Companies (DMC), Travel Agents/Travel Operators (TA/TO), and representatives from the hospitality sector. Participants will come from various regions, including Jakarta, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, Riau Islands, and West Java.
In addition to the core business-to-business (B2B) sessions at Travex, the Wonderful Indonesia Pavilion also offers tourism information, mini surveys, questionnaires, and traditional Indonesian coffee. "We aim for business transaction potential during Travex 2025 to reach Rp68 billion," added Made. The Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, emphasized the importance of marketing as a key to the success of the tourism sector. The Ministry of Tourism continues to enhance digital promotion through major campaigns like "Wonderful Indonesia," "Keep the Wonder," and #diIndonesiaAja. "Effective promotion will ensure that Indonesia's tourism is better known worldwide," said Widiyanti.
