Wednesday, 27 Nov 2024

The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, met with the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, to discuss the development of the creative economy in various regions. Both parties agreed to collaborate in enhancing the creative industry and economy at the local level.

"We will establish a small team between our ministries and the Ministry of Home Affairs to outline several priorities. This will include both short-term and medium-term objectives, in line with our vision of fostering the growth of the creative industry and economy," stated Teuku Riefky following the meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. The meeting was also attended by Irene Umar and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya.

Teuku explained that the formation of this team aims to achieve a more equitable economy and ensure economic distribution across regions. He expressed hope that this collaboration would create job opportunities and enhance the quality of the creative economy in Indonesia.

He elaborated that the development of the creative economy would involve local governments. Teuku emphasized that the synergy with the Ministry of Home Affairs represents a positive development for creative economy practitioners in the regions.

"During our meeting, we sensed a renewed optimism for those engaged in the creative economy at the local level. This synergy will relate to regulations and collaborative programs between the Ministry of Creative Economy, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and local governments," he remarked.

"Looking ahead, we aspire for the development of the creative economy to not only flow from the central government to the regions but also to emerge from the regions for the benefit of their respective districts, provinces, and even on a national and global scale," he added.

On the same occasion, Tito will encourage all regions to concentrate on developing the creative economy. This initiative aims to help regions recognize the potential of their youth and enhance local revenue.

"To that end, we have reached an agreement to encourage all regions. Particularly, the Ministry of Home Affairs, as the overseer and facilitator of local governments, will promote a greater focus on the development of the creative economy. This will enable them to acknowledge the creative potential of the youth and residents in their respective areas," Tito explained.

Tito expressed his appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto's establishment of the Ministry of Creative Economy. He believes that the creative economy serves as a new engine for economic growth.

"Globally, the creative economy is indeed a new engine of growth. It can generate income and create new job opportunities, while also providing a constructive outlet for creativity, which can lead to a more peaceful society by diverting individuals from negative behaviors," he stated.
