The Minister of Culture of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, reveals plan to launch 51 new screens across 17 regencies in Java. This initiative is organized by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the President's Special Envoy for Youth and Arts Workers and Rapi Films with the aim to increase the number of cinema screens in Indonesia and to boost local film audiences.
"The 17 regencies include Sukabumi, Cianjur, Subang, Garut, Indramayu, Pemalang, Gombong, Pekalongan, Ungaran, Salatiga, Klaten, Solo, Nganjuk, Kediri, Pasuruan, and Probolinggo," Fadli Zon stated at his office on November 25.
Additionally, Fadli Zon emphasized that the 51 screens set to open on December 5 will exclusively feature Indonesian films.
"This will only showcase Indonesian films. This is a breakthrough that we greatly appreciate from Mr. Sonu and Mrs. Sonia, who are part of a family with a rich film legacy, including the late Mr. Sam, the founder of Rapi Film. Not to be confused with Rafi Ahmad," he added.
Moreover, the new cinemas will have a very unique concept, featuring designs like containers and balloons that have never been seen in Indonesia before.
"There will be 17 cinema studios, and they will explain how their innovative concepts work, including buildings, containers, and balloons, making it more than just a place to watch films," he added.
