Nickel companies in the Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Indonesia have made a joint commitment to sustainable business practices. This was announced during the 2024 ESG Annual Conference at IMIP. The participating companies include Tsingshan Industrial, Eternal Tsingshan Group, Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd., Walsin Lihwa Corp., GEM Co., Ltd., CNGR Advanced Material Co., Ltd., and others. Wang Zuhuan, the Chairman of Tsingshan Industrial, stated that over the past year, IMIP has collaborated with external professional consulting firms to develop a system addressing ESG issues. These issues include occupational health and safety, human rights protection, supply chain due diligence, and community development, all aligned with international standards.
"This conference comprehensively summarizes IMIP's ESG efforts, addresses the concerns of external stakeholders, and considers recent developments in the nickel industry to formulate the next ESG work plan aimed at contributing to the sustainable development of the nickel industry in Indonesia," he said in a press release on Tuesday (February 4, 2025). Meanwhile, Ou Xiangbin, Head of the ESG Office at IMIP, revealed that in terms of health and safety, ITSS, as a pilot unit for the SCORE project, has significantly reduced workplace accidents and employee turnover while enhancing employee satisfaction. Regarding human rights, the area has developed the Goldenway strategy to encourage tenant companies.
