The Ministry of Cooperatives has appointed 23 new high-ranking officials within its organization. This early-year appointment aims to bring fresh energy to the Ministry and aligns with the vision of the 2024-2029 administration under President Prabowo Subianto. Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie Setiadi stated that both President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are highly focused on the role of cooperatives in development over the next five years. He mentioned that the government is providing ample opportunities for cooperatives to contribute to community welfare, as expressed during the inauguration ceremony on January 3, 2025.
Budi Arie highlighted the President's strong support for cooperatives, which is evident through several positive developments. Firstly, there is an additional budget of Rp10 trillion allocated as revolving funds for cooperatives through the Revolving Fund Management Agency (LPDB-KUMKM). He noted that this funding is a direct result of a meeting with the President, aimed at boosting cooperative development, especially in the real sector.
He emphasized that this significant amount comes with great responsibility, necessitating proper oversight. Additionally, there will be subsidized fertilizer distribution involving cooperatives, encouragement for the digitalization of Village Unit Cooperatives (KUD), and ongoing coordination to support the Free Nutritious Food (MBG) program, which will utilize local products and involve villages, cooperatives, and village-owned enterprises (BUMdes).
Budi Arie stressed the need for high-ranking officials to foster a strong and effective teamwork culture, given the relatively small number of staff at the Ministry. He also pointed out that the limited budget must be used efficiently to ensure that the outputs and outcomes are targeted effectively.
Kemenkop needs to be adaptable and dynamic to meet the needs of modern cooperatives. Therefore, I urge all high-ranking officials to leverage the existing human resources, said Budi Arie. He also requested that the newly appointed officials coordinate both internally and externally with other stakeholders. Specifically, he provided several instructions for these officials, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that the ministry's agenda is executed in a documented, measurable way that has a significant positive impact on the community. "It is essential to apply accountability principles in all ministry activities," he stressed. Budi Arie further advised avoiding sectoral egos, both within the ministry and with other stakeholders.
